A delicious mix of citrus and spice, this french toast is perfect for festive holiday mornings.
Ingredients
French Toast
2 Eggs
1/2 C. Almond Milk
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Cardamom
1/4 tsp. Ginger
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1 Loaf Canyon Bakehouse 7 Grain Bread
1/4 C. Butter
Maple Orange Sauce
1/4 C. Maple Syrup
1/4 C. Butter
1/4 C. Almond Milk
2 TBsp. Fresh Orange Juice
1 tsp. Cinnamon
Orange Zest
Directions
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, almond milk and spices.
Heat a large skillet or griddle and add 1 Tbsp. butter.
Working one at a time, coat each slice of bread with the batter on both sides before adding to the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes, flipping mid-way through, until golden brown.
To make the Maple Orange Sauce, melt ¼ C. butter in a saucepan with the maple syrup, cinnamon and orange juice.
Whisking, slowly add the milk and bring the mixture to a low boil. Simmer the mixture for 1-2 minutes and remove from the heat.
Serve the French toast stacked and topped with sauce.
